The event continued with a presentation by Ar. Adi Purnomo, IAI, sharing his architectural journey and offering reflections for the younger generation on practicing architecture wisely in an ever-changing era. Affectionately known as Mamo, he discussed the evolution of architecture from the early stages of human civilization to the present, the impact of technological discoveries on architecture, and the challenges facing the profession today and in the future.
He encouraged participants to reflect on how architects must act responsibly as key actors in development amid the ongoing environmental crisis. With rapid technological advancement, architects are required to consider environmental sustainability in their designs. The lecture concluded with several examples of environmentally responsive design projects developed by Mamostudio.
The lecture ended with the presentation of a token of appreciation and certificate to Mr. Mamo, followed by a group photo session. Through the regular organization of this Inaugural Lecture at the beginning of each semester, the Undergraduate Architecture Program at UGM consistently supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): 4 – Quality Education, 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, and 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities.
