The Undergraduate Architecture Program of Universitas Gadjah Mada continuously seeks to build relationships with various higher education institutions, one of which is through academic visits. On Tuesday (20/01), the Undergraduate Program welcomed students and lecturers from Universitas Mataram to the Department of Architecture and Planning Engineering (DTAP) for a benchmarking visit.
The activity, which took place at 08:30 a.m. (WIB) in Room K3, was opened with a welcome address by Dr. Ir. Rini S. Saptaningtyas, S.T., M.Sc., IPM., ASEAN Eng., Head of the Architecture Study Program at Universitas Mataram, followed by remarks from Dr. Yori Herwangi, S.T., MURP., Secretary of DTAP. In addition to the benchmarking session, the delegation also attended a lecture delivered by a senior lecturer of Architecture at UGM, Dr. Eng. Ir. Laretna Trisnantari Adishakti, M.Arch., entitled “The Cosmological Axis of Yogyakarta and Its Historic Landmarks.” This topic aligned with the group’s agenda during their visit to Yogyakarta, which included visiting several historical sites. The discussion was conducted interactively, with several Universitas Mataram students raising questions, one of which concerned projections for the management of cultural heritage sites in Mataram, such as the Old Town area of Ampenan.
Following the lecture session, the delegation was invited to tour the DTAP facilities, guided by representatives of the Architecture Student Association (KMTA) Wiswakharman. Participants visited lecture rooms, studios, and other supporting facilities. Meanwhile, the lecturers continued discussions on potential collaborations that could be developed by both institutions to strengthen their partnership and promote the advancement of architectural education in Indonesia, in line with Sustainable Development Goals 4: Quality Education and 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
