Mahamantri Traditional Dance Studio is a community of traditional dance enthusiasts from Arhitecture UGM. Mahamantri was started in 2015 as ‘Mahamantri Beksan’ (‘Mahamantri’ means ‘the experts’, ‘the professionals’, and ‘Beksan’ means ‘dance’).

At first, it was created for “Teknisiade” annual competition of sport and art in Faculty of Engineering UGM. Mahamantri won the 1st place in Teknisiade 2015.

In its journey, Mahamantri Beksan aims to be a place to develop student’s creativity in contemporary dance art that still holds firmly on the base of traditional dance. Finally, this community changed its name into Mahamantri Dance Studio, so it’s not impossible for the community to collaborate with another braches of dance.
