“Designing Livable Future”. That was the topic of Ridwan Kamil’s Lecture in Department of Architecture & Planning UGM, Tuesday, May 24th 2016. He was visiting Jogja for a meeting at UMY, and his longing for the architecture and education world had encourage him to held a Public Lecture.

“Through his LO at UMY, Mr. Ridwan Kamil called Nida (chief of KMTA 2014 period) and asked us to prepare a room that could accomodate ’round 300 person.”, said Nauvaldi, current chief of KMTA. KMTA, with the lecturers and the staffs did the preparation quickly. The poster were published in social media and surprisingly, 30 minutes before the Lecture starts, the room has been full of people who’s eager to get some knowledge from Ridwan Kamil. “From the estimation of 300 people, surprisingly, the number of participant hits around 500.”, Nauvaldi added.

The Lecture went fun. He talked about leadership and Architect’s contibution to the development of the city. “When we design the city, the city will design us back. We should avoid ourselves for designing an unhumanistic city.”

He ended a lecture with a discussion session and a simple-but-couraging sentence; “I am You. You are Me. If I can do it, You can do it too.”
