On the second day of the trip, January 26, at eight in the morning all Architrip 2018 participants already made their way to their next destination, the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). When the group arrived, they were welcomed by several representative collegers from ITB’s Architecture School. After taking pictures together, the group was escorted to the building of the School of Architecture, Planning & Policy.
They subsequently gathered in a regular-sized lecture room where the representative of the department explained all the ins and outs of the architecture programme of the institute. At 9.10 AM, the presentation was finished and the group was later accompanied to take a look around the campus, taking pretty much time, especially to go around its three studios on three different floors.
After taking a tour around the campus, they attended an architecture lecture at the auditorium on the first floor. Architect Andy Rahman came as the main speaker of the lecture, who explained mainly about Indonesian architecture’s strength in its craftsmanship and local materials.
The next destination was Labo Architecture, located at Bukit Dago Utara. One of the young architects in the firm, Marsya Masthurani, stated that the firm’s typical characteristic lies on the exposed finishing of its designs’ materials. It was explicitly depicted on the private house of the principal architects itself, which used exposed concrete as its predominant material. The group was given a chance to take a tour around the house and the whole area of the firm.
The last destination in Architrip 2018 agenda was Cihampelas Walk. To get there, the group had to walk their way through Teras Cihampelas first, a skywalk designed for pedestrians and goodies, foods, and clothes sellers. Free time was given until 9 PM, before they have to go back to Yogyakarta. The group spent their time freely to eat, play games, even shopping, either for themselves or as souvenirs to be taken to Jogja.
At more or less 9.30 PM, all Architrip 2018 participants already gathered together in the bus, and started their trip back to Yogyakarta.
