Yogyakarta, April 25, 2025 — Archilecture, a recurring guest lecture series held by the Undergraduate Architecture Program at Universitas Gadjah Mada, made its return in collaboration with the MateREALity (Architectural Materiality) class. This edition of Archilecture focused on a special theme that explored one of the essential elements in architecture—the window—featuring presentations from two practitioners: Motomichi Kunugiza (Program Officer at the Window Research Institute, Japan) and Andhang Trihamdani (R&D General Manager at YKK AP R&D Center, Indonesia).
The event opened with welcome remarks from Odilia Renaningtyas Manifesty, S.T., MA(UD)., Ph.D., who serves as the Secretary of the Undergraduate Architecture Program. This was followed by an award ceremony for the winners of competitions held during the MateREALity Trip to Jakarta from April 10 to 13, including the Instagram Story contest and live sketch competition. The awards were presented by Wisnu Agung Hardiansyah, S.Ars., M.Arch., and Nur Zahrotunnisaa Zagi, S.T., M.T., who were mentors during the MateREALity Trip to Jakarta and also instructors of the MateREALity class.
In the main session, Alya Rahmadani Wibowo (a 2023 undergraduate Architecture student), who served as moderator, invited Motomichi Kunugiza to deliver an online presentation about the Window Research Institute’s various projects. The session then continued with a direct, in-person presentation by Andhang Trihamdani, who elaborated on the intricacies of window design. During the discussion, students participated actively and enthusiastically, especially during the quiz segment on window types. The session provided insights that windows come in various forms and types, serving not only aesthetic purposes but also functional ones.
This activity aimed to provide high-quality supplemental learning for students in the Undergraduate Architecture Program, aligning with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 – Quality Education. Additionally, the discussion on window-related innovations also supports advancements in the architectural field, in line with SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure.
The event concluded with the presentation of tokens of appreciation and certificates to the speakers, handed over on behalf of the Undergraduate Architecture Program by Kadek Indira Diah Kardina, S.T., M.T., followed by a group photo session with the participants and speakers.
